Shrinky Dinks Book Cover Wine Charms

Yesterday Kim Hammond told us how to make Book Cover bracelets out of Shrinky Dinks. Today she returns with instructions on how to make those same book covers into wine charms AND she is giving a set away, all you have to do to enter is comment below.

I’m back with another Shrinky Dinks project and this time it’s wine charms. You may have read my prior post on a Shrinky Dinks book cover bracelet. I actually made my wine charms at the same time because I had enough room on my Shrinky Dinks page. Obviously you can use whatever images you want. I think my next set is going to be Nancy Drew.

The only difference in making wine charms is that you need a hole in your image and this must be made prior to baking. If you forget and try to do it after baking you are going to be disappointed because your imagine will break. This is first-hand knowledge so learn from my dumb mistakes.

I used a ¼ inch hole punch. I know the hole looks big, but it really shrinks a lot. You will have to find a good place to punch the hole that doesn’t interfere with your design. Another option is to leave an extra ¼ inch of Shrinky Dinks at the top of each book cover so you can punch your hole there rather than on the cover itself.

I went to Joann Fabrics and purchased wire hoop earring forms to use with my book covers. But if you’re crafty you could just buy a roll of wire and form your own, it’s really quite easy.
