Caught Read-Handed with Blue Margaritas

Terrie Farley Moran’s Well Read, Then Dead was the recipient of the 2014 Agatha Award for Best First Novel. Earlier this week Berkley Prime Crime released Caught Read-Handed the second novel in the series featuring Sassy Cabot and Bridgy Mayfield, who bring Fort Myers Beach, Florida residents plenty of sinful treats and killer reads at their bookstore café, the Read ’Em and Eat. Today Terrie brings us a unique Margarita recipe sure to bring an island-in-the-Gulf taste to your summer evenings.

Don't forget to join us on Facebook, July 14 from 4:30 PST - 7:00 pm PST (or 7:30 pm EST - 10:00 pm EST) for a very special double book launch featuring Terrie Farley Moran. You can get more details here

Here’s Terrie Farley Moran...

Hi everyone. I am delighted that my blog tour has brought me to Mystery Playground on Reads with Drinks Friday. As it happens I am doubly rejoicing because I have both a book launch and a birthday this week, so I have plenty to celebrate.

Caught Read-Handed includes a recipe for Miss Marple’s Orange Iced Scones developed by the fabulous-in-the-kitchen Karen Owen who blogs at A Cup of Tea and A Cozy Mystery. Today, however, I’m on my own as I share the recipe for a summer-y drink that reflects the  striking color of the Gulf of Mexico and the happy-go-lucky spirit of Fort Myers Beach—Blue Margaritas!

Ingredients:
6 lime slices
coarse salt
1½ cups Margarita mix
¾ cup tequila
4 ounces blue Curaçao
½ lime cut into quarters
4 cups ice
Set out six Margarita glasses. Rub the rim of each glass with a lime slice and dip and twist the rims in coarse salt. Garnish the glasses with the lime slices and set aside.
Combine the Margarita mix, tequila, blue Curaçao, and lime quarters in a blender until the lime is finely chopped. Add ice and blend until smooth. Pour into the salted, garnished glasses and enjoy while reading a chapter or two of your favorite book.
