The Ghost of Melody Lane and The Rose Ghost Cocktail

This week for Drinks with Reads we matched the The Rose Ghost Cocktail with The Ghost of Melody Lane by Lilian Garis.

Lilian Garis wrote this series of books girls featuring Carol Duncan during the time of the Great Depression and the Ghost of Melody Lane was the first in the series. Published in 1933, it starts out with Carol losing her job as an organist in a theater because of the invention and implementation of movies with sound (talkies).

Nancy Drew certainly never lost her job, which is why some people think these books are more realistic.

These books were also published by Nancy's publisher, Grosset & Dunlap, and there are nine books in the series.

Our matching cocktail was created for Mystery Playground at the Portola Hotel & Spa by bartendress extraordinaire Tuyet Vitacca.

3/4 ounces Triple Sec

1 1/2 ounce Pina Colada Mix
