Amish Banana Muffins from Isabella Alan

Don't these muffins smell fabulous? You can now make them at home thanks to author Amanda Flower, who also writes under the pen name of Isabella Alan. She's stopping by to give us the recipe and tell us about her new book. 

The Amish are famous for their baking, and one my favorite and simple Amish recipes are muffins. In the Amish Quilt Shop Mystery Series, muffins make frequent appearances because my protagonist Angie Braddock’s closest Amish friend is Rachel Miller, who runs Miller’s Amish Bakery just across the street from Angie’s quilt shop Running Stitch. Angie and her French bulldog Oliver stop in the bakery often for tasty treats and county gossip. I’m pretty sure both Angie and Oliver would approve of Rachel’s Chocolate Banana Muffin Recipe. I hope you will too. 

Rachel Miller’s Chocolate Banana Muffins
Ingredients:
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 cups all purpose flour

1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 large egg
1/2 cup skim milk
2 mashed ripe bananas
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup packed brown sugar

Chocolate chips

Steps:
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Line muffin pan with cupcake liners or grease the pan. Mix dry ingredients in a bowl and then add wet ingredients. Add chocolate chips. Place one-two tablespoons full of muffin batter into each muffin cup. Bake for 20 minutes.
