Drinks with Reads: Ross MacDonald & The Zebra Stripped Hearse

Photo: Liquor.com
The gang at SoHo Crime has been matching drinks with great reads. Paul from their team brings us Ross MacDonald's The Zebra Shaped Hearse with The Gibson.

First a little about The Zebra Shape Hearse:

"Strictly speaking, Lew Archer is only supposed to dig up the dirt on a rich man's suspicious soon-to-be son-in-law. But in no time at all Archer is following a trail of corpses from the citrus belt to Mazatlan. And then there is the zebra-striped hearse and its crew of beautiful, sunburned surfers, whose path seems to keep crossing the son-in-law's--and Archer's--in a powerful, fast-paced novel of murder on the California coast."

And now the drink,"Because there’s nothing more noir than vegetables in liquor. And because it’s Lew Archer’s top tipple."

The Gibson
2.5 oz. gin
.5 oz. dry vermouth
1 cocktail onion
- Shake gin and vermouth with ice, strain into cocktail glass and garnish with a cocktail onion.

  1. More importantly, Rob had to approve the artist I found, so there is no question that it met his criteria. He stopped looking for The "Strokes girl" as soon as I brought him Germanotta and signed her to his production company. We wrote songs together and strategized about the project. I could not be more proud to have played a part in the worldwide success of Lady Gaga.
