Six Years of Down & Out Books

A big congratulations to publisher, Eric Campbell, and all the folks at Down & Out Books for hitting their sixth anniversary this week. That's Eric in the photo above in black T-shirt.

To celebrate Down & Out is offering discounts and a contest for Down & Out Titles and a T-Shirt.

Over the years authors publishing with Down & Out Books have won a number of leading awards, including the Anthony Award (Murder Under the Oaks: Bouchercon Anthology 2015 by Art Taylor, editor for Best Anthology or Collection), the Shamus Award (Circling the Runway by J.L. Abramo for Best Paperback Original PI Novel, 2016; Moonlight Weeps by Vincent Zandri for Best Paperback Original PI Novel, 2015), the Macavity Award (“Honeymoon Sweet” by Craig Faustus Buck for Best Mystery Short Story, included in Murder at the Beach: Bouchercon Anthology 2014), and the IPPY Award (The Origins of Benjamin Hackett by Gerald M. This year six of its books have been nominated for a 2017 Anthony Award: In the Best Anthology category: Unloaded: Crime Writers Writing Without Guns edited by Eric Beetner, Cannibals: Stories from the Edge of the Pine Barrens by Jen Conley, and Blood on the Bayou: Bouchercon Anthology 2016 edited by Greg Herren.

On the Horizon

Down & Out Books continues seeking partnerships and opportunities for expansion. In 2016, ABC Group Documentation became its first imprint with a focus on fiction at the edge of the mainstream. In early 2017, Ron Earl Phillips’ Shotgun Honey publishing company officially became its second imprint. This summer will see the launch of Down & Out: The Magazine, a quarterly digest of crime fiction.
