Major Crimes Facebook Chat with Doris Roberts and James Duff

Last night Major Crimes creator, James Duff was on Facebook for the fourth time answering fans questions. We have a quick recap below.

This time his guest was one of this week’s many famous guest stars, Doris Roberts (I just loved her in Remington Steele).  Other guest stars on this episode included Marion Ross, Ron Glass, Tim Conway and Paul Dooley.

Here are my favorite things that we learned in the chat:

1)     Fritz should be coming back in episodes this winter...

2)     James Duff says that Dr. Morales doesn’t have a first name on the show. They may have a fan contest to get him named.

3)     Doris Roberts loved working with Mary McDonnell

Here’s the recap of answers (the Facebook format doesn't really lend itself to matching questions and answers.) If James Duff answered a question, the response begins with his name. Doris' responses begin with hers.

Doris Roberts Don't call me an old woman, because I am not ;-) And the minute you are born you are getting older, so everyone is older. And this cast of "older actors" are still alive and functioning very well. :-)

James Duff Fritz should be coming back this winter, if all goes as planned!

James Duff Hope you are enjoying watching Provenza plead for extra points.

James Duff @Korinne, taking Sharon Raydor from antagonist to protagonist was a long and dramatic journey. I didn't know she would ever be doing a spin off of The Closer until the last year of that show. It presented some great and enjoyable creative challenges, and gave the writers a chance to do something rarely done in television.

James Duff @Rufus T., The hardest part of shooting this episode was cutting it down to time, because our guest stars were so fantastic, we hated to lose a single word. Nine minutes over off the floor! Wish I could show you all the stuff we couldn't use!

James Duff @Suzanne, will Flynn and Sharon get to know each other better. Well, anything could happen.

Doris Roberts I love that we were all together on screen, showing that life goes on after 40. Our minds are all clear and we represented a great audience of older people. :-)

James Duff Tim Conway. Paul Dooley, Marion Ross and Ron Glass also star, and wait until you see Paul McCrane!

James Duff I prefer mature to the word old. And the older I get, the more I like the word mature.

James Duff @Kelli, Tom Berenger was the first and only pick to play Sharon's husband.

James Duff Leo wants you all to know that the guest stars are geniuses, but also some of the best and most professional actors he's ever work with

Doris Roberts @brenda - just wait! the show keeps getting better and the cast is SO wonderful.

James Duff @Lynette W., Leo, who directed this episode, says it was madcap, zany hilarity throughout. Like going to comedy church, which would make my religious participation more reliable.

James Duff @Jennifer P., if you are talking about the series regulars, I would say the person most like his character is Raymond Cruz, a tough guy who doesn't like you to see his heart.

Doris Roberts @evelyn asked: "Where did you shoot this episode?" Doris: we shot at an actual apartment building here in the LA area. It is called La Shangri-La.

James Duff @Jennifer Price, they are not only pros, but proof you get better with age.

James Duff @Dara, Sharon will loosen up a little more as time goes on. But she isn't what I would call a wild character.

James Duff @Marcia B., you could not be more right. Doris, Marion, Ron, Paul and Tim are not just actors, they are legends! We were truly sad to see them go! maybe we can have them back one day soon. Two more episodes after tonight, for those who are asking.

Doris Roberts A friend on Twitter asked what it is like working with Mary. She is a wonderul actress and a lovely woman. You will see us all in a scene together shortly.

Doris Roberts James Duff - i had such a great time filming the show. And sharing with all those fabulous actors. I wish we could do it again!

James Duff @Jennifer, but I would also say G W is very much like Provenza, and Tony has a lot of Flynn in him.

James Duff @ Barbara Turek, thank you for staring us off with such a nice comment. I'm here with the director of tonight's episode, Leo Geter, who helps us break stories in the writer's room, and we both appreciate your kind words about our stories. This new episode coming up is one of our favorites ever. Not just because it's Major Crimes, but because it features Doris Roberts and a lot of her friend and peers!

James Duff @Adrian Smith, Dr. Morales first name is Doctor. For the time being! We are going to maybe have a contest here on Facebook to name him.

James Duff @Tammy, you can't expect me to say whether Doris is playing a good guy or a bad guy! But she is always a great actor.

James Duff @Jamelah, both series were inspired by a general fascination with the justice system and how it's applied in our country. We think it represents the best of what our civilization has accomplished

Doris Roberts I just Tweeted my 2,000th Tweet! Be sure to follow me, @doris_roberts on Twitter.
