Scrabble tile coasters are quick and easy to make. I made a set of four in under forty minutes using the following materials:
- Gorilla Glue (It holds well and dries fast)
- 64 Scrabble tiles you don't need for your game
- Cork backing
- Scissors
- Modge Podge or another water proof sealant.
Step One: Get out your tiles and play with four letter word combos. I just spread my letters out and started making words like this:
Step Two: Once you've settled on your four work combinations, begin to use glue the letters on the cork one at a time with the Gorilla glue. Hold the letters down until the glue sets:
Step Three: Add more letters, remembering to hold them down as the glue sets. Put a little glue on the sides to glue the letters together as well. Once I got all sixteen letters on, I put a heavy book on the whole thing until it dried.
Step Four: I cut through the cork around the letters with a pair of scissors. My cork wasn't very thick.
Step Five: Cover the coaster with Modge Podge or another waterproof coating so the coaster stays nice.
I MUSt try this. I can see Soren stocking stuffers in my future.
