The Major Crimes finale is a few weeks behind us, but that doesn't mean we can't make super fancy french toast with Flynn (Tony Denison). The cast and crew of Major Crimes has gotten together to put together a cookbook to benefit the Sunshine Kids Foundation. For $30 you can not only have the recipes but the satisfaction of knowing that you helped raise money to help kids with cancer. Not too shabby.
The Major Crimes Cookbook: A Killer Collection of Deadly Dishes from a Television Family has recipes from most of the major cast members, Mary McDonnell (Sharon Raydor), G.W. Bailey (Lt. Provenza), Lt. Andy Flynn (Tony Denison), Michael Paul Chan (Lt. Tao), Phillip Keene (Buzz), Tom Berenger (Jackson Raydor), Jon Tenney (Fritz Howard), Jonathan Del Arco (Dr. Morales), Graham Patrick Martin (Rusty Beck), Robert Gosset (Commander Taylor), Kathe Mazur (DDA Hobbs), Nadine Velazquez (DDA Rios), and D.B. Sweeney (Agent Morris).
Tony Denison has been making the rounds talking about the cookbook on TV talk shows. Here he demonstrates his french toast making skills:
Tony's recipe for French Toast Italia Style can be found here.
The book also includes recipes from characters from The Closer who haven't yet, or may never make it to Major Crimes. Kyra Sedgwick (Brenda Leigh Johnson) and Kevin Bacon (director) provided a recipe for Pasta with Olive and Roasted Cherry Tomatoes that sounds yummy.
The crew is also well represented. We have Sunday Brunch Pasta from Terry Salazar the Costume Buyer, Macaroni and Cheese from Liz Briseno who heads up the Make Up department, Chicken Piccata from Mindy Roffman, Art Director and several from Greg LeVoi, Costume Designer. This is really just the beginning of the crew recipes which also reminds us how many people it really takes to put on a TV show.
Phillip Keene's (Buzz) Grandma contributed two recipes including one for turkey dressing with lots of butter.
I made the Tangy Slow Cooker BBQ Chicken from Michael Rosenfeld, Assistant Production Coordinator, the other night and it was quick, easy and delicious. Can't beat it for a quick weeknight meal.
There are a limited number of Major Crimes Cookbooks autographed by the cast available for $250.
