Argo Artifacts

The Pacific Science Center in Seattle has a wonderful exhibit going on called Spy: The Secret World of Espionage. Part of the exhibit includes real artifacts from the events depicted in the Ben Affleck movie, Argo

Argo, is about how a real CIA operative named Tony Mendez created the illusion that he was filming a fake sci-fi movie to help get six Americans out of Iran during the 1979 hostage crisis. If you haven't seen the movie, you need to see the movie. The sheer moxie it took to even think this operation would work is amazing.

Both the real movie, which won the Oscar for best picture in 2012, and the fake sci-fi movie in the operation were both named Argo. You can read all about the real life events in this Wired article

The artifacts in this exhibit include the brief case from Studio 6; one of the story board drawings, a business card and a news release and letterhead. Thank you to the CIA for loaning the museum these items for this exhibit.

  1. This was a great movie, and an amazing operation. Wish I lived in Seattle to see the exhibit.
