Crafty Thursdays: Dial M For Murder Earrings

It's Crafty Thursday again and we are back to murderous earrings with a stylized representation of the Alfred Hitchcock Classic movie, Dial M for Murder, starring Grace Kelly. We're giving this pair away, so comment below to be entered.

Here are the materials you will need:

  • Jewelry tools - flat nose pliers, round nose pliers, wire cutters
  • Silver chain (Michael's has this and so do online jewelry places)
  • 2 telephone beds (I got mine on Etsy)
  • 2 policeman beads (Same store on Etsy)
  • 6 eye pins
  • 2 earring hooks
  • 2 letter "M" charms

Step One:
Thread your eye pins through the hole in your policeman beads and use the round nose pliers to form a loop on the top like the photo below. Do this for both policeman beads and don't close that loop yet. Then do it for the telephone beads and don't close those loops either.

Step Two:
Take your two letter M charms and two eye pins. Open the loop at the bottom of one of the eye pins and thread it through the opening at the top of the letter M charm. Then form a loop at the top so you have a bit of a figure eight. Repeat for the other letter M charm. Don't close the top loop yet.

Step Three:
Now were going to cut your chain. Arrange your beads as you would like them to hang for one earring. I used 10 links of chain for my telephone beads, six for my policeman and zero for my letter M charm. Your chain may be different so you'll have to measure it out. Cut your chain and then thread your open loops through the right chain. Now close the loops.

And you're done!
