It's award season and checking the nomination lists is a great way to find excellent books for your TBR pile. It's fun to play along with the judges and see if you agree with the winner in a certain category.
Today we have the list of nominees for the 2017 The Edgar® Awards, given by the Mystery Writers of America. The Edgar Awards are named after Edgar Allen Poe and mark the best in mystery and thriller fiction and non-fiction. Edgar winners will be announced at a banquet on April 27, 2017 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, New York City, and we'll have the names here shortly thereafter. Hearty congratulations to all that we're nominated.
There are also special awards of honor that are bestowed to one person or entity rather than voted upon for great service to the mystery community. I'd like to send a special shout out to Neil Nyren for receiving the Ellery Queen Award, Dru Ann Love for receiving the Raven Award and Max Allen Collins and Ellen Hart for receiving the Grand Master award for lifetime achievement.
