Mary Blair

Mary Blair's hard hat created for Mary by Walt Disney Imagineering
Ever wondered who dreamed up the outside of Disneyland's Small World? The answer is Mary Blair, one of Walt Disney's favorite artists. Not only did she create concept drawings for  Small World, she did sketches to movies like Cinderella, Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland.

She also did the murals in the Contemporary Resort at Walt Disney World...

Her desk and her hard hat from Disney projects are now at the Walt Disney Family Museum. Probably very few of those who ride Small World realize who first conceived of the look.  More people should be aware of the world of Mary Blair and the unique perspective she brought.
