Crime & Catnip

We're trying something new today, a character interview created by author T.C. LoTempio from the protganoist of her book, Crime and Catnip. The caterer/amateur sleuth's name is Nora Charles (yes, she does have the same name as the character created by Dashiell Hammett in novel, the Thin Man.) Of course in this scenario Nora's cat is named Nick after Nora's husband in the Hammett novel.

Nora - how did you and Nick find one another?
My tubby tuxedo turned up on the doorstep of Hot Bread one day and waltzed in as if he owned the place. It was, as they say, the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Can you share with us what was on the menu at the gala at the Cruz Museum?
I tried to present a varied fare:  Lancelot’s Trout Almondine, Guinevere’s Chicken Surprise (chicken breast stuffed with rice and wild mushrooms)  my favorite: Morgan LeFay’s Pepper Steak stir-fry, King Arthur Finger Sandwiches.  I think one day I’ll h have to do a cookbook.

How did you become a caterer?
I always had an interest in cooking, and I think my parents secretly hoped I’d follow them into the business rather than become a reporter.  Become a reporter I did, though, but the pressures of the job were getting to me, when my  mother passed and left me her sandwich shop, Hot Bread.  My sister Lacey was next in line for it if I passed and I knew darn well she’d sell  my mother’s legacy, so I decided to switch careers.

What is the best thing that has ever happened to you?
That could be a three way tie: Moving back to Cruz, meeting Daniel Corleone, and, of course, meeting and adopting Nick!  Although now that Leroy Samms is back in town….hmm

Tell us a secret about you that no one else knows.
Even though I’ve faced down more than one baddie waving one around, I do not like guns.  I abhor them.

What is your next adventure about?

An old friend of my mothers, a romance writer, comes to Cruz on a mission, and, of course, finds herself accused of murder.  Guess who has to find the real killer?
